Traditional India

Apparently I needed to buy them all. I like to think he was just doing good business…

Daily washing on the Kerela backwaters.

Feeling privileged to be a part of a true Indian wedding, which lasted 11 days…

A celebration like no other.

The stunning bride and groom. It is said that the henna on the bride
symbolises the strength of their love.  The longer it lasts the deeper
their bond will be.

In true Indian fashion there was too much food, one thousand people,
 and ridiculous entertainment.

Spirits were magical as we danced through the streets

and celebrated the newly weds as they took their first step into forever.

Of course being India there were a few surprises

The Jaipur Elephant Festival. A breathtaking display of animals
and dancers, vibrant in colour and groomed to perfection.

There were no limitations

dress codes

or safety restrictions.

Just chaos

and beauty.

Experiencing the vibrant colours of Holi was unforgettable

As was trying to get my hair colour back.

Seclusion was found in the remote villages.

While chaos triumphed the sacred River Ganges. A battle in the midst
of celebrating and grieving, life and death, and all the small
things in between.

A place where the water can wash away your darkest sins

gives hope

and faith.

Prayer Flags lined the sky of Darjeeling, their mantras carried by the wind, purifying all.

Monasteries lined the streets. Illuminating the air with the sound of prayer.

  1. Fantastic photos Kate. Loving how you've captured all the colours of India. It is really something amazing. Your dressed up elephant is my favourite of this set.
